Today is the birthday of my husband and tomorrow is my birthday. Last year, to celebrate these two birthdays, one of my children wrote the poem I’ve shared below. I put it up on Instagram and on Facebook, but now I also want to share it with all of you on my blog.
You met in Valencia
Married in Torreciudad
Honeymooned around the world
Barcelona, you made your home
Your love was an example
Without limits nor conditions
Everything one for the other
Eighteen hearts
At home were always visitors
People wanted to meet you
How do these parents do it
With so much love and tenderness?
With looks that said everything
Walking together holding hands
You were like a new couple
In love for thirty years
Family was your goal
The world was your destiny
Your book was the medium
The results shone forth
Listening to your story
Many people have been changed
If you were able with eighteen
I can do welcome one more
This house full of joy
Also moments of pain
One day the three oldest
Their hearts were stopped
Carmen, Javi, and Montse
How beautiful were their names
Faces full of tears
And many unanswered questions
The departure of a loved one
It takes much more than that
And if time is oblivion
For me there is no time
Three helpers in heaven
Now there are four
But the last hurt a lot
It was father, the best
Hospitalized in February
He left us in March
The traitorous cancer
Finally took his life
Always with rosary in hand
A true weapon, they knew
A family that prays together
Will always remain united
My God, thank you
What a family, what a gift!
When I have to give my account
You’ve left me with a difficult task
I ask only one thing:
“All of this family in heaven”
I ask you so, with love
And please, not one less
